Our Story
Who's behind membot?
In 2003 we established Uno International Ltd. as a UK entity to supply product development and manufacturing of components and systems for the medical diagnostics industry.
As it happened, a close family member of our director was diagnosed with a condition which required complex medical care. Chemotherapy was accompanied with alternative treatments such as hyperthermia sessions, nebuliser inhalation, Ozon therapy, massages, hyperbaric chamber therapy and natural supplements. In addition, several other daily routines such as blood pressure and blood oxygen measurements, as well as lunch and physical exercise breaks had to be included in the daily schedule.
Our patient could not any longer follow the reminders on the mobile phone. There were too many reminders necessary, and each of them related to a completely different activity. As the condition progressed, the use of the mobile phone was beyond mental and physical capacity.
It soon transpired that the schedule was run at random and treatments missed altogether.
We gathered that something had to be done to help our patient to follow the required routine. We then came up with the idea that a set of reminders have to physically relate to the various activities to be followed. We then developed small electronic circuitries and attached them to the various physical objects such as the supplement bottles, the pill boxes, one attached to the fridge, one on the training shoes and one worn around the neck. And it worked.
We then decided to scale up the production of these small memory robots and called them membots.
